AmeriCorps Partners in Learning is now recruiting for the 2018 summer program.

Contract dates: May 21, 2018 - August 11, 2018*
Contracted hours: 300 hours over 12 weeks; approximately 28-32 hours per week.
Living Stipend: $2,310 ($385 every 2 weeks)
Education Award: $1,230.69**

*Contract dates can change if positions are unfilled by May 21, 2018.
**Member must completed contract requirements to receive award.

Contract Dates: 300 hours: May 21, 2018 – August 11, 2018 (Average of 28-32 hours per week)

Salary: Living allowance of $2,310 ($385 every 2 weeks) & Education award of $1,230.69*

Opening Date: February 13, 2018                                             Closing Date:  May 2, 2018

Description: AmeriCorps member will organize, create, and implement literacy programs at the Carnegie-Stout Public Library and for community partners.

Examples of Duties:

  1. Plan and implement literacy programs for preschool and early elementary school aged children at the library and its community partners.
  2. Develop a relationship with staff and participants to foster a positive learning environment.
  3. Participate in service projects outside of the assigned placement.
  4. Attend AmeriCorps team meetings and mandatory trainings.
  5. Engage in other duties that support the grant narrative and are not prohibited activities.

Typical Qualifications:

  1. Desire to work with children; experience working with children a plus.
  2. Applicant must be creative, energetic, dependable and a self-starter.
  3. Applicant must have reliable transportation.
  4. Applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  5. Applicant must pass three-part Criminal History Background Check because of reoccurring access to vulnerable populations. 

Available shifts: AmeriCorps training starts May 21. Playground Explorations training starts June 4. Service will take place during normal business hours. Some night hours are required during Special Events. Vacation, sick, holiday and lunch time do not count toward your total 300 hours.

*AmeriCorps member will receive education award in the form of an electronic payment through Education award may be used to pay educational costs at eligible post-secondary educational institutions or qualified student loans.  Members who are 55+ years of age can transfer award to child or grandchild under specific conditions.
