  1. Highway 61/151 Update

    This program is a portion of an edition of "Inside Dubuque" which was taped on July 18, 1990.Public Works Director Frank Murray explains in detail how the city will change as construction on the Highway 61/151 project proceeds.Some construction footage shot that summer is included.The program ends with a 2014 drive through town on the highway, recorded almost 24 years to the day of the original presentation.

  2. Field of Dreams Press Conference

    This program presents some raw video from the press conference at Carnegie-Stout Public Library on August 8, 1988, after filming wrapped up in the tri-state area on "Field of Dreams." Although the film's director, Phil Robinson, attended the press conference, the Cable TV Division media library only had tapes for stars Kevin Costner and James Earl Jones.Apparently City cameras did not have a microphone on the table where the stars were seated and the audio is a little difficult to hear sometimes.

    This session is a follow up session to the City Council goal-setting sessions of August 25 and 26, 2014. The Dubuque City Council meets annually to reaffirm the City's vision statement, mission statement, set goals, and develop priorities for the next fiscal year's policy agenda. This information is used by City departments to prioritize current and future projects in accordance with the City Council's direction. These strategic planning sessions are facilitated by Sumek & Associates. Like City Council meetings, goal-setting sessions are open to the public. However, public input is not allowed during these sessions. Once compiled, the results of the goal-setting sessions are announced via media release and published on the City of Dubuque's website at www.cityofdubuque.org

    Regular meeting of the Housing Commission The Dubuque Housing Commission consists of 10 members appointed by the City Council to three-year terms. One member shall be appointed by the Housing Commission to serve as a representative to the Community Development Advisory Commission. Meetings are held: •4:00 p.m. •Fourth Tuesday of each month •Housing & Community Development Department Office Purpose: •To undertake and carry out studies and analysis of housing needs and the meeting of such needs •To recommend proposed projects in the area of low- and moderate-income housing for the citizens of the City •To monitor the City's housing programs •To conduct grievances regarding the Rental Assistance Program, except in the area of Housing Code enforcement
