The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, or “Stimulus Act,” was signed by President Barack Obama on February 17, 2009. This legislation provides a nearly $800 billion boost to the American economy. It includes funds to upgrade infrastructure, enhance energy independence, expand educational opportunities, preserve and improve affordable health care, provide tax relief, and support state and local governments.

Transparency and accountability for spending are important priorities of the ARRA. In an effort to remain transparent and accountable to the citizens of Dubuque, this portion of our website will update ARRA dollars received locally and how the funds are being utilized to benefit the City of Dubuque and its citizens. Where appropriate, links are provided to other areas of the City’s website which provide status updates on the projects and programs receiving funding.
To date, the City of Dubuque and its partners have been awarded funds in the amount of: $84,811,423. This includes dollars awarded directly from the federal government and from the State of Iowa. The State received certain funding with the requirement that it disburse it to local governments. Some funding awards have been made based on formula allocations, while others has been secured through competitive grant programs. This funding has directly funded 69 jobs in Dubuque with more to come. |
