Yard Waste Collection
Overview
To be eligible for Yard Waste collection, all yard waste must be placed in a paper yard waste bag which displays a single-use yard waste sticker, a rigid solid waste container with a single-use yard waste sticker looped on the handle, or in a rigid solid waste container displaying the City's annual yard waste decal. All brush and limbs must be bundled with a City of Dubuque brush tie or twine with an attached single-use sticker, placed in yard waste bags with single use stickers, or placed in an annual-decaled container.  Yard waste stickers can be purchased at several area locations. Pick-Up and Subscription
Regular yard waste collection is provided on your regular solid waste collection day starting April 1, 2013, and ending November 29, 2013.

Yard waste should be kept separate and not mixed with trash. All yard waste must be set out by 6:00 a.m. and not weigh over 40 pounds per container or bundle. Rigid containers have a maximum size of 35 gallons.

Appointment collections of yard waste and food scraps between December 3, 2012 and March 29, 2013 will be on Thursdays. Customers must call 563.589.4250 or submit an online service request by the prior Wednesday before 3 p.m. to make an appointment. Appointments setting out cans in December with 2012 annual decals will be collected and not require yellow stickers. All other set outs require yellow stickers or brush ties. Appointments setting out yard waste in 2013 will require a 2013 annual decal, yellow sticker or City brush tie.

Yard Waste setouts during the Merry Mulch program (January 7th through January 18th) require 2013 annual decals, yellow stickers or City brush ties, but do not require appointments due to collections being done on the regular scheduled days during these two weeks.

We are in the sixth year of the fee-based food scrap recycling program and have reached the State-mandated cap for it. However,  we can add your name to the list if you are interested in participating when more food scrap volume is permitted for composting at the DMASWA facility. Contact the Public Works Department at 563.589.4250 for further information or to subscribe.
