In the 1990s, the Dubuque County Historical Society created the America's River project with a goal of raising $25 million to redevelop the historic Ice Harbor. The project soon became a renovation of over $400 million! More commonly known now as the Port of Dubuque, this historic and scenic area offers educational and recreational activities for all visitors.
The Port of Dubuque is located right next to the Mississippi River and is home to The Mississippi River Museum and Aquarium, Port of Dubuque Marina, Art On The River, American Trust River's Edge Plaza, Alliant Energy Amphitheater, and the Mississippi Riverwalk.
Reservations may be made at the American Trust River's Edge Plaza or the Alliant Energy Amphitheater for private events and ceremonies. The Mississippi Riverwalk may be reserved for public events. Reservations may be made 15 months in advance.
