Teleservice Policy

Teleservice

Teleservice is an option that is to be used only using a small amount of a member’s total service hours. Participation in Teleservice may be voluntary and requested by a member. Program members and their supervisors shall comply with APIL and CNCS guidelines and policies for teleservice outlined below.

Members should meet the following conditions to be eligible to enter into a teleservice agreement for teleservice:

  1. Have been an AmeriCorps Partners in Learning Program member for at least 1 month OR, due to extenuating circumstances, needs to be able to teleserve as listed in the member position description.
  2. The member has proven to the sponsor/supervisor to be a reliable team member (punctual, motivated, professional, thorough, etc.)
  3. The member understands that AmeriCorps teleservice is not a 9-5 assignment; that it is only for a short duration and only to be used on rare occasions, for example, the completion of a special project OR due to extenuating circumstances, needs to be able to teleserve on a regular basis as listed in the member position description.
  4. The member understands that it is not to be used for the purpose of making up missed service hours in an effort to end the service term successfully.

To inquire about Teleservice, the member must contact the AmeriCorps Director.

Due to COVID-19: AmeriCorps Members may participate in the following: Teleservice; grant-related activities that vary from those identified in the approved grant-application; activities that are not directly related to the grant, but are related to the host site or sponsoring organizational goals; activities that are not directly related to the grant and are conducted in community-based organizations; and/or disaster response activities outside of the scope of the grant.
In all cases, the planned activities are reviewed and approved by the Program Director to ensure that no unallowable or prohibited activities are included. To the extent possible, information about the service activities will be collected and maintained in the member file, along with verification of member service hours.
