Summer Youth Programming

During the COVID-19 pandemic limited outdoor programming is being offered. All programs and registration deadlines are posted on Facebook including the Rec N Roll Enrichment Program and Playground Exploration Programs schedules. We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this time.

Playground Exploration Programs

The 2020 Playground Exploration Programs are happening this summer! Trained leaders plan, organize, and direct Playground Explorations in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Music, Math, Reading or Writing! This is a FREE drop-in program, Monday-Friday, for children ages 6-14. FREE breakfast and lunch is provided daily for participants.

Swimming Pools

Dubuque offers two public swimming pools: Flora Pool and Sutton Pool.

Adult Volleyball League

Join the fun and participate in the lifetime sport of volleyball by forming your own women's or coed team. Summer leagues are played outdoors at Flora Park.

Adult Softball League

The adult softball leagues are designed to be recreational and fun. There are three divisions: 

  • “A” League – Competitive league
  • “B” League – Intermediate league
  • “C” League – Recreational league

All leagues play 10 games at McAleece Park & Recreation Complex.

Ways to Register

  1. Online Registration
    Online Registration is available 24 hours / day for most Recreation Division classes. We have teamed with the Active Network to provide this service using a valid credit card; convenience fee will be charged.
  2. Mail-in
    You can mail your registration to Leisure Services, 2200 Bunker Hill Rd., Dubuque, IA 52001.
  3. Fax or E-Mail
    To 563.589.4391 or parkrec@cityofdubuque.org, 24 hours / day using Master Card or Visa.
  4. Walk-in Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., at 2200 Bunker Hill Rd.
  5. After Hours Drop-off
    Place your form and payment in a sealed envelope and drop off in mail slot in the office door

Registration Form

Programs limited to a certain number of participants will be registered on a first-come, first-served basis with Dubuque residents given preference. You should receive a confirmation receipt within two weeks. 

Payment

Payment must be included with any registration to be accepted.  Fees may be paid by credit card or checks payable to Leisure Services Department.  Credit Card payments may only be made online, in person or by phone. 

Financial Assistance

To assist low income residents, the Leisure Services Department allows individuals or families to purchase swim passes, park passes, and register for some Recreation Division programs / classes for 50% off fee listed in brochure. Registration must take place in the department office, and appropriate identification and current benefit card must be available, or an income form will need to be completed.
