Kerper Ct / Kerper Blvd Roundabout

The City is converting the intersection of Kerper Ct. and Kerper Blvd. to a two-lane roundabout. The project is expected to begin in mid-August and be completed by November 2023.

The Kerper Ct. and Kerper Blvd. intersection improvement project includes the construction of a two-lane roundabout along with underground utilities, ADA ramps, and street lighting. The project will require some traffic disruptions, but Kerper Blvd. will remain open to northbound and southbound traffic throughout construction. Access to businesses will be maintained throughout the entire project. 

A temporary road from 16th St. to Kerper Blvd. has been constructed to allow access to Kerper Ct. while the western half of the roundabout is constructed. All businesses on Kerper Ct. will be able to travel to and from their place of business without having to go through the construction area.

Eastern Iowa Excavating and Concrete will construct the project in two phases: 

• Phase 1 includes the construction of the west side of the roundabout. Work is expected to begin in mid-August. Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times on Kerper Blvd. Kerper Ct. traffic will be detoured to 16th St. to use the temporary road to access Kerper Ct.
• Phase 2 will be construction of the east side of the roundabout. Phase 2 is expected to begin early October. Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times on Kerper Blvd. The temporary road will still be in use. However, the option to exit from Kerper Ct. at Kerper Blvd will also be available.

The roundabout is expected to open to normal traffic beginning November 1, 2023. Any remaining grading work will be completed by November 30, 2023. All seeding and lighting will be completed by April 30, 2024.
