Water Quality

The Dubuque Water Department provides high quality water that is in compliance with all standards set forth by the Environmental Protection Agency. Over two hundred tests a day are performed by water treatment plant operators.

In addition to these tests, the Dubuque Water & Resource Recovery Laboratory performs over 120 bacteriological analyses of our drinking water on a monthly basis. Other compliance related testing is performed by the University of Iowa Hygienic Laboratory and Keystone Laboratories. All of these analytical measures ensure that the water reaching your home is safe to drink.

Lead & Copper Sampling Program

As required by the EPA and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, the City of Dubuque Water Department conducts an annual lead and copper sampling program to monitor drinking water at customer taps. Click here to learn about the Lead & Copper Sampling Program.
