April 29: 467 New Cases and 12 Deaths in Iowa, Nine More Cases Confirmed in Dubuque County

The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) was notified of 467 additional positive cases of COVID-19 in Iowa, including nine additional cases in Dubuque County. Iowa now has a total of 6,843 positive cases and Dubuque County has 97.

Twelve additional deaths were reported today for Iowa, which includes the Dubuque County death reported yesterday. The death toll for Iowa is now at 148. According to IDPH, 323 COVID-19 cases are currently hospitalized and 2,428 Iowans have recovered.

1,514 Iowans were tested for COVID-19 yesterday, so a total of 41,337 tests have been conducted in Iowa. There have been an additional 1,047 negative tests for a total of 34,494 negative tests to date, which includes testing reported by the State Hygienic Lab and other labs. The number of positive cases will continue to grow as Test Iowa sites open and additional surveillance testing of large businesses and nursing home staff continues.

COVID-19 Update to Dubuque City Council Tonight
The Dubuque City Council will hear an update on COVID-19 response efforts at the beginning of their 5 p.m. meeting today. This will include information on community testing planning, the State of Iowa’s Regional Medical Coordination Centers system, state and county case totals, long-term care centers, and more. This meeting will be streamed live on the City of Dubuque Facebook page (www.Facebook.com/CityOfDubuque) and at www.cityofdubuque.org/media, and aired on CityChannel Dubuque, channels 8 and 117.2 on the Mediacom cable system.
