MAY 28: Five New Cases and 2 More Deaths in Dubuque County

Please continue to practice social distancing of at least six feet when you must interact with people outside your household. Wear a mask when you cannot social distance and wash your hands frequently.

Test Iowa Sites
The Dubuque County Public Health Incident Management Team continues to pursue the possibility of bringing a Test Iowa site to Dubuque County. As of today, there are 10 sites across the state with the two closest in and Cedar Rapids and Davenport. All Iowans are now eligible for testing but must complete the assessment at www.testiowa.com. As of today, 14,187 Dubuque County residents have taken the assessment.

Positive Cases
Since 2 p.m. yesterday, the IDPH reported five additional positive cases of COVID-19 in Dubuque County, putting the county total at 334 as of 2 p.m. today. For the state, 213 additional cases were reported since 2 p.m. yesterday. Iowa now has a total of 18,573 positive cases.

Deaths
Two additional deaths were reported in Dubuque County since 2 p.m. yesterday, bringing the county total to 18. Fourteen additional deaths were reported statewide putting the state death total at 504.

Testing
As of this 2 p.m. today, 5,060 Dubuque County residents have been tested, up 106 from yesterday. 143,351 Iowans have been tested, an increase of 3,405 since yesterday. Iowa has a positive test rate of 13 percent while Dubuque County's is 6.6 percent. One in 19 Dubuque County residents have been tested and one in 22 Iowans have been tested.

Long-Term Care Facility Outbreaks
As of 2 p.m.. today, there are 38 long-term care facilities in Iowa with COVID-19 outbreaks, two more than yesterday. There is one long-term care facility outbreak in Dubuque County at Dubuque Specialty Care, which has 49 positive cases and 12 recovered cases (no change from yesterday). Statewide, IDPH is reporting 1,499 positive cases at long-term care facilities, 660 recovered, and 231 deaths. The number of cases and recovered include both residents and staff.

Hospitalizations & Recoveries
As of yesterday, 383 Iowans were hospitalized due to COVID-19, a decrease of 10 from Tuesday. During that same time, the number of Dubuque County residents hospitalized from from eight to seven.Statewide, 10,313 Iowans have recovered (up 330 from yesterday), including 155 Dubuque County residents (up one from yesterday).
