May 8: Six New Cases, Additional Death, Targeted Testing Update

Targeted Testing Program Tests Over 1,450
Approximately 1,456 individuals were tested over the last three days through a targeted testing program in Dubuque County. The testing was coordinated by the Dubuque County Public Health Incident Management Team and staffed by Crescent Community Health Center, Grand River Medical Group, Medical Associates & Clinics, MercyOne Dubuque, UnityPoint Health – Finley Hospital, the City of Dubuque, and Dubuque County.
Approximately 1,134 staff from long-term care facilities in Dubuque County were tested.

Approximately 322 individuals identified as at-risk of exposure through contact tracing were tested.

Test results are expected within 24-72 hours.
It is expected that the number of positive cases in Dubuque County will increase as the test results from this targeted testing program are received.

398 New Cases and 12 Deaths in Iowa, 6 More Cases and One Death in Dubuque County
The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) was notified of 398 additional positive cases of COVID-19 in Iowa, including six additional cases in Dubuque County. Iowa now has a total of 11,457 positive cases and Dubuque County has 181.
12 additional deaths were reported today for Iowa, including one in Dubuque County, bringing the state total to 243 and Dubuque County’s total to six.

As of May 6, 16 Dubuque County residents are currently hospitalized due to COVID-19. Statewide, 417 Iowans are hospitalized and 4,685 Iowans are recovering or have recovered.

1,820 Dubuque County residents have been tested to date, for a 10% positive testing rate. Statewide, 70,261 Iowans have been tested for a 16% positive testing rate.
