City Council Work Session - Excursion Boat Travel on the MS River
Monday, September 17, 2018
Travel Dubuque President Keith Rahe will give a general overview of the economic impact of excursion boat travel on the Mississippi River. David Simmons of Viking Cruise Lines will present on their plans for river excursion boat business.
The City Council occasionally meets informally in work sessions, at the call of the Mayor or of any four (4) members of the City Council, to review forthcoming programs of the city, receive progress reports on current programs or projects, or receive other similar information from the City Manager.
Work sessions are sometimes held prior to regularly scheduled City Council meetings unless it is anticipated that the topic will take additional time for discussion. In that case, they are usually scheduled for the "off Mondays" between City Council meetings.
Like City Council meetings, all work sessions are open to the public. However, these sessions are meant to be a "working" meeting where the City Council receives in-depth information regarding a particular subject. Public input is usually not allowed at work sessions and no formal action is taken on the issue being discussed at these meetings.
If the location allows, most City Council work sessions are broadcast live on City Channel, Dubuque's local government access channel on the Mediacom cable system at cable channel 8 and digital 117.2, and webstreamed live on this website at
