City Council Work Session - Black Lives Matter: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Part I

Monday, July 27, 2020

City Council will make an appointment to the vacant First Ward City Council seat. City staff and community partners will then conduct a work session with the City Council regarding diversity, equity, and inclusion.

The City Council occasionally meets informally in work sessions, at the call of the Mayor or of any four (4) members of the City Council, to review forthcoming programs of the city, receive progress reports on current programs or projects, or receive other similar information from the City Manager.

Work sessions are sometimes held prior to regularly scheduled City Council meetings unless it is anticipated that the topic will take additional time for discussion. In that case, they are usually scheduled for the "off Mondays" between City Council meetings.

Like City Council meetings, all work sessions are open to the public. However, these sessions are meant to be a "working" meeting where the City Council receives in-depth information regarding a particular subject. Public input is usually not allowed at work sessions and no formal action is taken on the issue being discussed at these meetings.

If the location allows, most City Council work sessions are broadcast live on City Channel, Dubuque's local government access channel on the Mediacom cable system at cable channel 8 and digital 117.2, and webstreamed live on this website at www.cityofdubuque.org/media
