Dubuque Police Investigate Drowning

DUBUQUE, Iowa – On Saturday, August 22, 2020, at 6:27 p.m. Dubuque Police responded to the Mississippi River near Schmitt Harbor, 2210 Chaplin Schmitt Drive after receiving an emergency call from a boater. The initial investigation revealed Taylor White, 31 years old, of Platteville, WI dove into the river from a boat and did not resurface. 

On Tuesday, August 25, 2020, at 6:53 a.m. a citizen located a body believed to be White on the shore near the Port of Dubuque Marina, 450 East 3rd Street. The body will be sent to the Iowa Medical Examiners Office in Ankeny to verify identity. 

The Dubuque Fire Department, Dubuque County Sheriff’s Office, Key West Fire Department, East Dubuque Fire Department, Dubuque County Conservation, Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, United States Fish and Wildlife Service, United States Army Corps of Engineers (Lock & Dam 11) and the United States Coast Guard assisted with a multiple-day river search.
