July 17, 2021 -- For Immediate Release


DUBUQUE, Iowa – On July 17, 2021, at approximately 5:24 p.m. Dubuque Police responded to 14th Street/Central Avenue for the report of an individual suffering from a gunshot wound and located an 18-year-old male with a wound to his chest.  He was transported to UnityPoint Finley Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

City of Dubuque traffic cameras captured the incident and were utilized to track the suspect to a residence in the 1900 block of Jackson Street where he was taken into Police custody. The suspect is identified as a 15-year-old male.

The name of the deceased may be released within the next several days, pending appropriate next of kin notifications.

The name of the suspect will be withheld pending juvenile court proceedings.

The investigation remains active.
