Addressing Emerging MobilityIn 2017, Dubuque completed its Imagine Dubuque 2037 comprehensive plan. Following a year of community engagement that gathered over 12,500 ideas from more than 6,000 stakeholders, the plan serves as a guide for the community’s physical, social, and economic development. This effort envisioned improved transportation options, infrastructure upgrades, and better connectivity.
In 2020, Dubuque was selected to participate in the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Building Blocks for Sustainable Communities Program and is receiving technical assistance to identify emerging mobility concerns.
Public Input SessionAs part of the Building Blocks program, Dubuque residents are invited to attend a virtual public input meeting on Emerging Mobility on Tuesday, Sept. 14, at 11 a.m. The meeting will be facilitated by a team of EPA consultants and topics will include micro transit such as bike or scooter sharing programs, curb management to accommodate new roadway users, automated/connected vehicle technology, smart infrastructure to better manage parking, complete streets, transit equity, and connectivity. Based on input from the community, the consultants will develop an action plan for implementing Emerging Mobility strategies in Dubuque.
