DUBUQUE, Iowa – The City of Dubuque will host a dedication event to acknowledge the 2019 donation of more than 11.5 acres to Eagle Point Park. The public is invited to attend the event at 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 1, near Eagle Point Park’s tennis courts.
The donated land is located between homes on Eagle Point Dr. and Shiras Ave. It was donated by former Dubuque resident and Dubuque Senior High School graduate Jeffrey Deforest Davis who, along with his family, owned the wooded land adjoining Eagle Point Park. The gift was made in honor of Davis’ late father-in-law, Wayne W. Anthony, a Dubuque native who lived on Eagle Point Dr. for many decades before passing away in 2002.
The area will be dedicated as the Wayne W. Anthony Land Donation and is expected to remain a woodland. The donation was formally accepted by the City Council in December 2018 and is the first land addition to Eagle Point Park since 1937.
