Juneteenth, also called Emancipation Day, is a celebration of the day in 1865 when the abolition of slavery was announced in Texas. Although the Emancipation Proclamation was issued on January 1, 1863, it was not formally announced or enforced in the State of Texas until June 19, 1865, more than 2 years later. Today, it is an American celebration of freedom and achievement, and focuses on building stronger communities.
We hope to see you there!
