Last Day to Swim is Friday, Aug. 18

August has arrived and sweet, sweet summer is flying by! We can't believe the 2023 pool season is coming to a close in just two weeks. End-of-season hours at both Flora and Sutton pools start Saturday, Aug. 5, and the last day to swim is Friday, Aug. 18. Squeeze every last bit out of summer with a few more days of fun at the pool!

Playground Explorations Program

Final Day is Friday, Aug. 11

It's been a great summer for the Playground Explorations Program! At Allison-Henderson, Comiskey, Flora, Murphy, and Jackson parks we saw old friends and made new ones, played games, did hands-on learning activities, spent time on the playground, enjoyed arts and crafts, and had a ton of fun!

The final day of this free, drop-in childcare program is Friday, Aug. 11. To all our participants and their families, we wish you a great 2023 - 2024 school year and we hope to see you again next summer!

Kids Summer 4-Day YogArt Camp

Monday - Thursday, August 7 - 10, for Ages 6 - 12

Join us for a fun week of yoga and art! The YogArt program is hosted by Challenge to Change and combines the creative, calming practices of yoga and art into one amazing event. At camp, children will breathe, stretch, and imagine as they receive instruction in yoga and mindful art. This is 4-Day "Fun in the Sun" camp is led by Miss Sandra and Miss Charlotte? from 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., Monday - Thursday. We ask that students bring a bottle of water and a packed lunch.

This one-day, two-hour "Fun in the Sun" camp is perfect for your little ones ages 3 - 5. Join Miss Sandra and Miss Charlotte from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. for a fun-filled time of yoga, music, and art!

Miracle League of Dubuque

Registration for Fall League Now Open

Registration for Miracle League of Dubuque Fall League is now open! All games are on Saturday mornings at the Miracle League of Dubuque Field from Aug. 26 - Oct. 14. Games will be played at 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and 11:30 a.m.

Miracle League is a free and all-inclusive program for all ages and abilities. Every player bats once each inning, all players are safe on the bases, and the last one up gets a home run! Participants must register by Friday, Aug. 11, to receive a Miracle League of Dubuque t-shirt. Teams and schedules will be sent out on Aug. 18.

Fall Softball Leagues

Men’s, women’s, and mixed softball leagues will be offered Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings this fall. Tentatively, games will begin the week of Sept. 4, with a six game guarantee. All games are played at McAleece Park & Recreation Complex. Game times vary and are played at 6 p.m., 7 p.m., 8 p.m., or 9 p.m., unless specified. Registration deadline is Thursday, Aug. 17.

$125 Family Scholarship Program

The Leisure Services Department provides up to 200 qualifying low-income families with $125 in scholarship credits which can be used for program registration, pavilion rentals, swim lessons, pet park season passes, and other services provided through the department. Applicants may use their credits upon completion of the application process. Scholarship funds will expire on June 30, 2024.

Those who qualify for a Leisure Services Family Scholarship will automatically qualify for the Creative Adventure Lab scholarship program which includes a complimentary 1-year Family Play Membership ($180 value).
