City of Dubuque News Release

INFORMATION SESSION ON DUBUQUE TREE VOUCHER PROGRAM THURSDAY
AUGUST 11, 2023

The final opportunity this year for Dubuque residents to learn more about receiving discounted trees is scheduled for Thursday evening.

The City of Dubuque Sustainability Office and Dubuque Trees Forever are once again offering vouchers for discounts on the purchase of trees at local nurseries. Homeowners interested in obtaining a voucher must attend one of two informational sessions, which will provide insight into tree selection, placement, planting, and care. The second, and last, of these sessions will be held on Thursday, August 17, at 6:30 p.m. at the Salvation Army, 1099 Iowa Street. Pre-registration is encouraged, but no one will be turned away from the informational session.

Tree vouchers valued at $75, $125, and $250 are available. The vouchers can be redeemed at Wagner’s Nursery, Steve’s Ace Home & Garden, or Cornerstone Nursery. The vouchers must be redeemed between September 1 and November 1. Some tree varieties and sizes are excluded from the program.

Trees must be planted on the homeowner’s personal property, and not on the city right-of-way or easement. A five-gallon watering bucket will also be provided by Dubuque Trees Forever to program participants, and volunteers from Dubuque Trees Forever will be available to assist with the tree delivery and planting in certain cases.

The aim of the tree voucher program is to encourage and assist with residential tree planting with the city limits and recognize the value of trees in an urban environment.
