Two-Way Traffic to Be Maintained During John F. Kennedy Rd. and W. 32nd St. Intersection Improvement Project

The southbound lane closure on John F. Kennedy Rd. at W. 32nd St. that began on Friday, Aug. 18, and then was delayed due to reckless driving that created unsafe driving and working conditions, will no longer resume on Monday, Aug. 28, as announced on Friday, Aug. 18.

Due to safety concerns, the City has expanded the project scope to include removing the center median on John F. Kennedy Rd. in the work area.  The additional space will allow for two-way traffic to be maintained on John F. Kennedy Rd. throughout the duration of the project. There will be no closure or detour for the project. Motorists will need to follow the lane shifts through the intersection and drive with caution as they travel through the work zone.

The John F. Kennedy Rd. and W. 32nd St. Intersection Improvement Project includes construction of new traffic signals at John F. Kennedy Rd. and W. 32nd St., ADA accessible ramps and related sidewalks, a turn lane, and pavement widening. Additionally, storm sewer intakes will be reconstructed.

If you have questions regarding this project, please contact the City of Dubuque Engineering Department at 563-589-4270.
