Mayor Cavanagh to Deliver Annual State of the City Address

Dubuque Mayor Brad Cavanagh will deliver the annual State of the City address at noon on Tuesday, Oct. 3, at the Grande Ballroom of the Hotel Julien, 200 Main St. The Dubuque Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the event, which includes a luncheon for Chamber members before the mayor’s address. The public is welcome to attend the address portion of the program at no charge. To ensure seating availability, those interested in attending are strongly encouraged to register in advance by calling the Dubuque Area Chamber of Commerce at (563) 557-9200.
Mayor Cavanagh will deliver remarks on issues of vital importance to Dubuque residents, while also sharing a vision for continued community success. Attendance at the State of the City Luncheon will provide an opportunity for residents to be informed about relevant issues in the community.
Cavanagh, a Dubuque native, was elected as Dubuque’s 45th mayor in November 2021, and was sworn into office in January 2022. He previously served as the City Council representative for Dubuque’s Fourth Ward. Prior to his time on the City Council, he was a member of the City’s Housing Commission, has been a member of the Board of Directors of both the Dubuque County Food Policy Council and the Fountain of Youth program, and helped co-found Resources Unite.
As mayor, Cavanagh serves on the boards of Dubuque Initiatives, the Dubuque Racing Association, the Greater Dubuque Development Corporation, Travel Dubuque, and the America’s River Board. He also serves on the Executive Board of the Iowa League of Cities and is a member of the U.S. Conference of Mayors.
The 2023 State of the City address will air on CityChannel Dubuque in the days and weeks following the luncheon. It will also be shared on the City’s social media channels.
