Multicultural Family Center to Host Rededication Celebration

OCT. 16, 2023

The Multicultural Family Center (MFC) will host a Rededication Celebration, honoring its newly renovated space for the Dubuque community. The event is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 21, at the Multicultural Family Center, 1157 Central Ave. Doors will open at 11:45 a.m., with the program to begin at 12:30 p.m.

The Rededication Celebration marks the Multicultural Family Center’s official re-opening to the public. The facility will be fully open on a consistent basis with extended hours for both programing through the Multicultural Family Center and extended Leisure Services customer service hours.

This celebration will consist of free food provided by Hot Diggity Dogz, a live DJ, diverse cultural entertainment, fun family activities, giveaways, cultural booths, free resources, minority owned business vendors, and more! Multicultural Family Center staff will also be on hand to greet visitors.

“We are extremely excited to connect with our community at our celebration and eager to maximize our ability to offer dynamic cultural events, free programs and resources, and opportunities that will contribute to our mission in helping people reach their full potential,” says new Multicultural Family Center Executive Director Antonio Mouzon. “This is a space that is meant to honor all walks of life, provide a safe space for our community to show up authentically to build connections, and become empowered to grow!”

"I'm so excited for the rededication celebration!” adds Assistant Director Sarah Petersen. “In the 10 plus years I’ve worked at the MFC, this expansion of staff, space, and services has been momentous. The future of the MFC has never looked brighter.”

The Rededication Celebration is meant to celebrate the history, diversity, and multiculturalism of our community. A variety of performances will also be highlighted, including spoken word, cultural dances, and cultural and resource booths.
