Arrest Made in Dubuque Death Investigation

DUBUQUE, Iowa – On January 18th, 2024 at 8:50 am officers from the Dubuque Police Department responded to 1605 Avoca Street for the report of a deceased female within the residence. The decedent was located and identified as 46-year-old Jennifer Ann Dazey of this address. Through the course of the investigation, investigators developed probable cause to arrest and charge Jennifer’s adult son, 28-year-old Tyler James Dazey with murder in the first degree. Tyler also resided at 1605 Avoca Street.
Murder in the first degree is a class “A” felony in the State of Iowa, punishable by a mandatory life sentence. Tyler is currently in custody at the Dubuque County Jail and will have his initial appearance in court on the morning of Friday, January 19th.
As with any criminal case, the charges filed are allegations and any suspects are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.
