Tree Removal to Cause Traffic Disruptions on Old Mill Road

A City of Dubuque tree removal project is expected to result in interruptions to vehicle traffic along a portion of Old Mill Road.

During the week of March 18, City crews will be felling trees in the area of 1580 Old Mill Road, between the intersections with Manson Road and Rockdale Road. The tree removal is being performed in preparation for an upcoming sanitary sewer lift station construction project.

City crews will be working both on and alongside Old Mill Road. Signs and flaggers will be used in the area to alert and occasionally stop vehicles traveling through the area. Drivers are asked to be alert and use caution when traveling through the work zone. Motorists can also expect delays and are encouraged to use an alternate route that avoids the area, if possible.

The tree removal is being conducted in accordance with state regulations regarding threatened and endangered bats and migratory birds. These policies require that trees with a thickness of three or more inches in diameter must be removed between the months of October and March.

Questions about the tree removal project and upcoming sanitary sewer project can be directed to the City of Dubuque Engineering Department, which can be reached by phone at 563.589.4270. Please note, closure dates and times are estimates and subject to change without notice based on weather and contractor schedules.
