Portion of Northwest Arterial Bike/Hike Trail to Temporarily Close Beginning Monday

A portion of the Northwest Arterial Bike/Hike Trail will temporarily close beginning at 7:00 a.m. on Monday, May 6, due to nearby construction. 

The closure will begin at a development/construction entrance along the trail approximately one mile east of the Northwest Arterial’s intersection with West 32nd Street. It will extend to approximately 0.7 miles west of the intersection with Central Avenue/Iowa Highway 3. This portion of the trail was similarly closed for previous construction work in August and September of 2023. 

The closure is being implemented so construction crews can perform turn lane and entrance paving on the south side of the roadway and trail. The closure is expected to last two to three weeks. 

Pedestrians will still be able to use the trail on both sides of the closure, but will not be allowed through the closure and construction site. Signage will be posted to alert trail users of the closure.
