2025 Citizen's Police Academy

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Dubuque Police Department will be hosting the 28th session of the Citizen's Police Academy (CPA).  This 10-week program offers community members the opportunity to attend presentations and classes taught by Dubuque Police officers, law enforcement professionals, and other members of the criminal justice system.  Some topics include: Arrest Procedures, Search and Seizure, Use of Force, K-9 Unit, Specialty Units, Drug Enforcement, School Resource Officers, and more.  As part of the Academy, participants will also conduct a 4-hour ride-along with a Dubuque Police officer, then report their observations to the class.

The 2025 session of the CPA will take place on Thursday evenings at 6pm and lasting approximately 3 1/2 hours per session, from January 30th through April 3rd with an optional 11th session on April 10th.

Applications will be accepted beginning December 20th, 2024.  Applicants must be 18 years of age, have no felony convictions, and have no significant arrest history.
