INCIDENT TYPE: Residential Structure Fire
ADDRESS/LOCATION:  892 Edison - Dubuque

The Dubuque Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call on Monday, January 27th, 2025, at 1:14 PM from a citizen reporting fire inside a neighbors home. The Dubuque Fire Department was dispatched to the scene at 1:15 PM. Initial responding vehicles included Engine 506, Engine 503, Engine 501, Engine 508, Command 528, 1 Safety officer, Medic 551, Medic 555, Truck 512, and Truck 511. The response brought 19 firefighters in total on the scene

The first unit, Engine 506, arrived on scene within 5 minutes of dispatch reporting heavy smoke and fire coming from the front and sides of the home, declaring the home fully involved. 528 arrived on scene and established Edison street command.  Remaining companies arrived on scene and supported defensive operations applying water from multiple lines and an elevated master stream from Truck 511.  The fire department remained on scene for several hours ultimately declaring the fire under control after an hour and extinguished after several hours.  Crews faced challenges due to the high winds and close proximity of two residential structures within feet of the fire building.  The fire department was assisted on the scene by the Dubuque Police Department, Alliant Energy who ensured the safety of operating crews near electrical wires, Black Hills Energy, Public Works, Dubuque Water Department, and the American Red Cross.

2 adults and 5 children were displaced and being assisted by the American Red Cross with alternate housing.  There were no injuries to firefighters reported.  Crews obtained 1 medical refusal to a citizen on scene unrelated to the fire.    

The home was determined to be uninhabitable.  The fire cause is under investigation by the Dubuque Fire Department.
