INCIDENT TYPE: Residential Structure Fire
ADDRESS/LOCATION: 1991 Rockdale Rd - Dubuque
At 6:14 p.m., Dubuque Fire Department units—including Engine 1, Engine 5, Engine 6, Truck 1, Truck 4, Medic 1, and Battalion 1—responded with lights and sirens to a reported structure fire at 1991 Rockdale Road. The response brought 19 firefighters in total for the fire. The homeowner reported smoke and fire in the attic, and all occupants had safely exited the residence prior to fire department arrival.
Upon arrival, crews observed light smoke coming from the eaves and located an attic fire. Firefighters accessed the attic and applied water at approximately 6:28 p.m., followed by ventilation and overhaul operations. The fire was brought under control at approximately 6:39 p.m.
A fire investigator determined the cause of the fire to be arcing electrical wiring. The American Red Cross provided assistance to the homeowner. No injuries were reported, and all units returned to service following the incident. The structure sustained approximately $20,000 in damages.
