City of Dubuque to Open Housing Voucher Waiting List
DUBUQUE, Iowa – The City of Dubuque Housing & Community Development Department will OPEN the waiting list for the Housing Choice Voucher rental assistance program (formerly known as Section 8) from 8 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb.14, 2018, until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018.
The Housing Choice Voucher Program provides rental assistance for income-eligible households. The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) sets income limits that determine eligibility for assisted housing programs, including the the Housing Choice Voucher program. A link to the HUD income limits is available on the City’s website www.cityofdubuque.org/rentalassistance.
Applications will be available on-line at cityofdubuque.apply4housing.com and at the Housing & Community Development Department, 350 W 6th St., Suite 312, Dubuque, IA 52001. They are also available upon request by calling 563-589-4230 or by emailing housing@cityofdubuque.org.
To apply for the waiting list, applicants will need: names (as they appear on Social Security card), Social Security numbers, and date of birth for all household members. If you do not have this information, you will not be able to complete the on-line application. Only one application is permitted per household.
Upon completion of the on-line application, a confirmation notice and number will briefly appear on the screen. Have a paper and pencil ready to record this number. If a confirmation number is not provided, the application was not successfully submitted and will not be processed.
Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. on February 20, 2018. Using a random lottery, 1,000 households will be selected from the applicant pool for the City of Dubuque’s Housing Choice Voucher waiting list. Households randomly selected for the waiting list will receive written notification of selection within 90 days of closing the waiting list. Submitting an application does not guarantee placement on the waiting list, approval of application, or admission into the program.
