Math, Science & Mandarin Tutoring 

The Multicultural Family Center (MFC) is offering a free tutoring program focusing on current 8th-12th grade students needing assistance in the areas of Math, Science and Mandarin (Chinese).

This drop-in style tutoring program will be offered Monday-Thursday from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  The program will start February 5th and continue through May 3rd, 2018.  Additional support may be available after May 3rd if necessary.

The tutors are college students, teachers and community members who bring experience, expertise and enthusiasm to the program.  The MFC interviews and conducts background checks on all volunteer tutors.
  
Students will work with their tutors and interact with each other in small groups to master specific subjects.  The goal is for students to build relationships with their peers as well as gain guidance in the subject from the tutors.   Students are expected to bring  their homework, textbooks and/or study materials to each meeting with their tutor.

Students in the program will:

• deepen their understanding of course material
• practice problems with the guidance of tutors and peers
• develop necessary study and test-taking skills
• set goals to increase academic performance.
