On 04/03/19 at approximately 7:48 PM the Dubuque Police Department responded to a disturbance at 2095 Central Ave. Officers made contact with the occupants of the residence and ultimately arrested Nathan Michael Chapman, 43, for Domestic Assault Causing Injury and Harassment in the Second Degree.
Officers observed drug paraphernalia in the residence while investigating the assault. Officers applied for and were granted a search warrant for the residence and began to search for drugs and related paraphernalia. During the search, at approximately 10:20 PM, an officer came into contact with an unknown powdery substance and began losing consciousness. Fellow officers pulled the officer out of the residence and called for an ambulance. Officers on scene administered Narcan to the semi-conscious officer who was then transported to Mercy Hospital by a Dubuque Fire Department ambulance. The officer began to recover and was treated and later released from the hospital. The officer is a nine-year veteran of the department and is recuperating at home.
The Dubuque Drug Taskforce responded to 2095 Central Ave and collected the powdery substance. The substance will be sent for further testing and the investigation is ongoing.
The officers of the Dubuque Police Department want to thank those who expressed concern and support for our officer.
