June 19, 2019 – For Immediate Release

DUBUQUE, Iowa –  The City of Dubuque Housing & Community Development Department will OPEN the waiting list for the Housing Choice Voucher rental assistance program on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, from 12 a.m. CST until 11:59 p.m. CST.

The Housing Choice Voucher Program provides rental assistance for income-eligible households.  The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) sets income limits that determine eligibility for assisted housing programs, including the Housing Choice Voucher program.  A link to the HUD income limits is available on the City’s website at www.cityofdubuque.org/HCV.

Applications will be available online at cityofdubuque.apply4housing.com and at the Housing & Community Development Department, 350 W 6th St., Suite 312, Dubuque, IA 52001. They are also available upon request by calling 563-589-4230 or by e-mailing housing@cityofdubuque.org.

To apply for the waiting list, applicants will need: names (as they appear on Social Security card), Social Security numbers, and date of birth for all household members.  If you do not have this information, you will not be able to complete the online application.  Only one application is permitted per household.

Upon completion of the online application, a confirmation notice and number will briefly appear on the screen.  Have a paper and pencil ready to record this number.  If a confirmation number is not provided, the application was not successfully submitted and will not be processed.

Applications will be accepted from 12:00 a.m. CST until 11:59 p.m. CST on the second Tuesday of the month beginning July 9, 2019.  Using a random lottery, households will be selected from the applicant pool for the City of Dubuque’s Housing Choice Voucher waiting list. Households randomly selected for the waiting list will receive written notification of selection within 15 business days of completing the lottery selection.  Submitting an application does not guarantee placement on the waiting list, approval of application, or admission into the program.
