Overnight Closure/Detour of Eastbound US20 Thursday Night

The Iowa DOT will implement an overnight detour on eastbound US20 from 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3, to 6 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 4, for work related to the Southwest Arterial.

The closure and detour will allow for the placement of the architectural steel arch on the Southwest Arterial interchange overpass bridge. During this overnight closure, the eastbound US20 detour will occur near the Southwest Arterial interchange location, with eastbound traffic detoured onto the eastbound interchange ramps.

Currently, westbound US20 traffic is being detoured onto the westbound interchange ramps to allow the contractor to use the mainline highway to erect the architectural steel arch members on the ground prior to installation on the overpass bridge. The placement of the second architectural steel arch on the interchange overpass bridge is scheduled to occur next week, which will require another overnight traffic detour.
