Circles® Fall Volunteerfest: An Open House
DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Dubuque Circles® Initiative, a grassroots movement made up of concerned citizens and community leaders dedicated to ending poverty, is hosting an open house on Monday, Oct. 22, for those interested in learning about the fight against poverty in Dubuque.
The open house will be held at the Hotel Julien, which generously donated the space for this event. The public may stop in any time after 11 a.m. and is especially encouraged to enjoy light lunch items and refreshments from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m, and hors d’oeuvres and refreshments from 4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. In addition to providing information about poverty in Dubuque, the open house will highlight available volunteer and internship opportunities.
Circles® is part of a national campaign that connects Volunteer Allies to families wanting to get out of poverty. Allies help families break the cycle of poverty by sharing their time and friendship. Circles® builds collaborative "circles" of support that strengthen community, inspire tolerance, eliminate barriers and connect resources for those living in a cycle of poverty, so they may lead themselves and their families to permanent stability.
Enjoy a hot cup of cocoa and find out how you can help end poverty, one friendship at a time. For more information about the Circles® Initiative, visit www.cityofdubuque.org/circles.
