Erosion Control and Stormwater Quality Conference Scheduled for Jan. 31

DUBUQUE, Iowa –The public is invited to attend a free conference focused on erosion control and stormwater quality in the Dubuque/Galena area. The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 31, at the Five Flags Civic Center located at 405 Main St. in Dubuque.

The educational event is designed for engineers, landscape architects, inspectors, contractors, excavators, erosion control companies, and homebuilders from surrounding communities and will offer ideas on how to “go green” with newer technologies, reduce costs while increasing performance, and protect waterways via proactive techniques in run-off treatment.

Presentation topics will include earth fill replacement, dewatering systems, transition mats, and vegetated reinforcement systems. Programs and policies specific to Dubuque County, the City of Dubuque, and the City of Asbury will be highlighted at 9:10 a.m. A roundtable discussion at the end of the conference will allow attendees to speak with members of the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship, Iowa Department of Natural Resources, municipalities, and vendors.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided. Four professional development hours (PDHs) and four continuing education units (CEUs) are available for those who qualify.
