Police Impounds & Tows

How To Get Your Vehicle Back

Vehicles are released only to the registered owner of that vehicle.

The owner of the vehicle needs to come to the Dubuque Law Enforcement Center, located at 770 Iowa St. to resolve the issue of why the vehicle was towed, and to pay an administrative fee of $20. Upon proof of ownership and receipt of the $20 fee, the Police Department will contact the towing company and notify them that the vehicle can be released.

Please note that if a vehicle was towed for an insurance violation, proof of insurance must be obtained prior to the vehicle's release.  See Insurance Violation Procedures for additional information.

The owner of the vehicle is responsible for any fees related to the towing and storage of the vehicle.

For more information, please contact the police department at 563.589.4410.
