Curbside recycling is available at no charge for City of Dubuque customers. Place acceptable materials in bins or bundles. Each bin or bundle must weigh 40 pounds or less. Plastic bags are not accepted. Please recycle them at local retailers.

Yellow recycling bins and large 96-gallon wheeled blue recycling carts are free for City of Dubuque solid waste customers.

To request a bin or cart:

  • Call 563-589-4250
  • Visit the Municipal Services Center, 925 Kerper Ct, weekdays 7 a.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Note: Supply of the large 96-gallon blue carts is limited. Residents may join a waitlist until more carts arrive.

What Can Be Recycled?

Acceptable Materials

  • Rigid plastics with a recycling symbol between #1 - 5
  • Paper, cardboard, and newspaper
  • Metal

Unacceptable Materials

  • Plastic bags
  • Plastic toys or furniture
  • Styrofoam
  • Glass
  • Electronics

Recycling Electronics

The City of Dubuque offers collection of large items, including electronics, for a fee. Residents may also drop off electronics by appointment at the Dubuque Metropolitan Area Solid Waste Agency Facility located at 101 Airborne Rd. Learn more about options for recycling electronics.
