Why should I switch to a Jule Smart Pass?

  • Convenience – Your Jule Smart Pass allows you to load products online anytime, over the phone, or by visiting our office. Customers can set up autoload on their account to ensure uninterrupted service.
  • Security  – When registered, your Jule Smart Pass balance is protected if the card is lost or stolen.

Where can I use a Jule Smart Pass?

Jule Smart Pass may be used to pay for rides on all Jule fixed-route buses.

Where do I get a half-fare Jule Smart Pass?

Seniors age 65+ and residents on Medicare qualify for half-fare pricing and students qualify for free fares on The Jule.  To receive your discounted card, bring your photo ID, Medicare card, or student ID to the Intermodal Transportation Center at 950 Elm St. Dubuque, IA  52001.

Can I buy a Jule Smart Pass on the bus?

No. You must buy a Jule Smart Pass before you board the bus.

What fares can I add to my Jule Smart Pass?

Fare products that can be loaded onto your Jule Smart Pass:

  • Frequent Rider -  Frequent rider is a discounted monthly pass that provides unlimited rides for 31 consecutive days from the first time it is used ($45).
  • Rider Passes – The rider pass is a single trip, 11-ride pass ($15). This pass does not have an expiration date. Once the rides are completed, the card must be reloaded. 
  • Half Fare –  Available to those who qualify.

How do I add fares to my Jule Smart Pass?

  • In Person: Visit the Jule office at the Intermodal Transportation Center at 950 Elm St., Dubuque, IA 52001. Regular business hours are Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • By Phone: 563-690-6134. When replenishing your card online or over the phone, your balance will be available within two days of purchase.

How do I reload my Jule Smart Pass with AutoBuy?

Once you have created a Jule Smart Pass account, your card may be reloaded automatically with the AutoBuy feature. When your Rider Pass balance gets low or your Frequent Rider pass is about to expire, AutoBuy will automatically charge your credit card and replenish your Smart Pass with so you never have to worry!

How do I check my balance?

You can check your Navigator balance using any of the following methods:

  • Online: www.juletransit.org/smartpass
  • In Person: Visit the Jule office at the Intermodal Transportation Center at 950 Elm St., Dubuque, IA 52001. Regular business hours are Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
  • By Phone: 563-589-4196
  • In person on the bus. When you use your fare card, the remaining balance will appear on the farebox after a fare is deducted.

Does a Jule Smart Pass expire?

Yes, full fare Jule Smart Passes expire 10 years from the date issued. You can check the expiration date for your Jule Smart Pass using any of the following methods:

  • In Person: Visit the Jule office at the Intermodal Transportation Center at 950 Elm St., Dubuque, IA 52001. Regular business hours are Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

The Half Fare Jule Smart Pass expiration date is printed on the back of the card when it is issued.

What if my Jule Smart Pass is lost or stolen?

Any Jule Smart Pass registered to an online account receives balance protection. A registered Jule Smart Pass can be reported lost or stolen and replaced using one of the following methods:

  • Online, anytime: Simply login to your Jule Smart Pass account accessible by visiting www.juletransit.org/smartpass, click Manage Card and select the Replace Card button. Complete the process following the prompts. Please allow 2-5 business days to receive your replacement card.
  • Call Jule Customer Service at 563-690-6134, Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. 
  • Jule office at the Intermodal Transportation Center at 950 Elm St., Dubuque, IA 52001. Regular business hours are Monday-Friday from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Please allow 2-5 business days to receive your replacement card.

All cards reported lost or stolen will be automatically canceled and will no longer be accepted for payment. Any remaining balance will be transferred to the new replacement card, which will be automatically registered for future balance protection.

Customers that do not register their card with their online Jule Smart Pass account will not be able to reclaim any lost or stolen funds.
