Meter Enforcement

Parking meters are enforced Monday - Saturday, 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. except for the following City holidays: 

  • New Year’s Day
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Fourth of July
  • Labor Day
  • Veterans Day
  • Thanksgiving Day and the day following
  • Christmas Eve
  • Christmas Day
  • New Year’s Eve

Meter Violation Fines

  • Expired Parking Meter: $15
  • Not Within Metered Space: $30

City-Wide Enforcement

The Parking Division helps enforce parking ordinances outside Dubuque’s downtown metered parking district, including the City’s snow route parking policy when it is activated. This does not replace parking enforcement efforts by the Dubuque Police Department. Parking complaints should still be directed to the Police Department at 563-589-4415.

Parking Violation Fines

  • Snow Route Restricted Parking: $50 

  • Parking in Fire Lane: $50

  • Fire Hydrant Restricted Parking: $50

  • Parked Wrong Direction: $30

  • Blocking Access to Residence: $30

  • Restricted & Prohibited Parking: $30 

  • Residential Parking Permit Violation: $20 

  • Alley Restricted Parking: $20
  • 2-Hour Zone & Alternate Side Parking Violation: $20 

  • Street Storage: $20

  • Disabled Parking Violation: $200

Enforcement efforts will focus on city-wide disabled parking compliance on both public and private properties.

The City accepts VISA, Mastercard, and Discover in addition to cash and checks.
