On January 17th, 2012 at 1:45 a.m., a Dubuque Police Officer was checking the security of businesses in the 3300 block of Hillcrest Road and noticed the electrical service to one of the businesses appeared to have been tampered with.
On January 17th, 2012 at 1:45 a.m., a Dubuque Police Officer was checking the security of businesses in the 3300 block of Hillcrest Road and noticed the electrical service to one of the businesses appeared to have been tampered with. The officer investigated further and found the rear door to Contempo Salon Spa (3343 Hillcrest Rd.) unsecure. As the officer entered the building, he located two burglary suspects inside. The suspects fled the business on foot with one suspect, Tyler John Hohaus, 20, of 2925 Illinois Ave., Dubuque, being apprehended in the ARC parking lot (3355 Kennedy Circle). Hohaus was charged with Burglary 3rd Degree, Possession of Burglar Tools, and Interference with Official Acts. He is being held in the Dubuque County Jail on a $10,000 signature bond with a $1,000 cash provision. Further investigation resulted in the identification of the second suspect, Joshua William Holder, 18, also of 2925 Illinois Ave., Dubuque. Later in the day, Holder was arrested, charged with Burglary 3rd degree, and is currently in the Dubuque County Jail awaiting his court appearance.
Burglary in the 3rd degree is a Class D Felony, punishable by up to 5 years incarceration and a fine between $750 and $7,500. Possession of Burglar Tools is an Aggravated Misdemeanor, punishable by up to 2 years incarceration and a fine between $625 and $6,250. Interference with Official Acts is a Simple Misdemeanor, punishable by up to 30 days incarceration and a fine between $65 and $625.
As with any criminal case, the charges filed are allegations and any suspect(s) charged are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.
