On May 31st, 2012 at 2:23 p.m., Dubuque Fire & Police Departments were dispatched to the apartment duplex at 2509/2511 Jackson Street on the report of a structure fire.
On May 31st, 2012 at 2:23 p.m., Dubuque Fire & Police Departments were dispatched to the apartment duplex at 2509/2511 Jackson Street on the report of a structure fire. Personnel initially on scene reported visible flames coming from the second floor of 2509. The occupants, Rory Zirkelbach 06/03/69 of 2509 Jackson St. & Jennifer Ernzen 03/02/74 of 1049 W. Locust St., were able to vacate the residence and no injuries were reported. There was extensive damage to 2509, with especially heavy loss on the second floor, and collateral smoke/water damage to the adjacent apartment (2511). Both agencies continue to investigate the cause of the fire, to include whether the origin could be related to the manufacture of methamphetamine. No charges have been filed at this time.
