[ARCHIVED] After-School Sports for Grades 4 and 5

The Leisure Services Department provides an after-school sports program to fourth and fifth grade students conducted at a number of Dubuque public elementary schools.


AFTER-SCHOOL TENNIS registration deadline was on Friday, November 11th for grade 4 and 5 students. The tennis program dates will be between November 28th and December 8th. This intramural program will meet 90 minutes following school dismissal and will emphasize learning tennis fundamentals, team concepts, sportsmanship, participation, improved health/fitness and fun! Each participant will attend up to three practices and have 1 "play day" that friends and families can come and watch. Tennis practice schedules were emailed to parents/students on Saturday, November 19th. After-School Tennis has been canceled at Audubon, Fulton and Prescott Schools due to low enrollment.


AFTER-SCHOOL BASKETBALL will be offered for grade 4 and 5 students in January of 2017. This intramural program will meet for 90 minutes following school dismissal and will emphasize learning basketball fundamentals, team concepts, sportsmanship, participation, improved health/fitness and fun! Practices will be held Monday-Thursday (twice per week) beginning the week of January 30th. Each participant will attend up to six practices and play in one game at the end of the season.


AFTER-SCHOOL TRACK & FIELD will be offered for grade 4 and 5 students in the Spring of 2017. This intramural program will meet for 90 minutes following school dismissal and will emphasize learning track and field fundamentals, team concepts, sportsmanship, participation, improved health/fitness and fun! Practices will be held Monday-Thursday (twice per week) beginning the week of April 10th. Each participant will attend up to six practices and conclude with an inter-school track meet held at Dubuque Senior High School, Dalzell Field.
