[ARCHIVED] House Fire Under Investigation

On December 4th, 2012 at 3:35 a.m., Dubuque Fire and Police Departments responded to 1001 Garfield Avenue, the residence of Christopher J. Mayne, 32, on the report of a structure fire.

On December 4th, 2012 at 3:35 a.m., Dubuque Fire and Police Departments responded to 1001 Garfield Avenue, the residence of Christopher J. Mayne, 32, on the report of a structure fire. Upon arrival the majority of the residence appeared to be consumed by fire and/or smoke. The occupants: three adults and three children (ages 10,8,&7) were able to evacuate. Mayne suffered injuries not believed to be life threatening. No other occupants or emergency responders were injured.

The initial investigation indicates the origin of the fire most likely being in the basement where there were indications of possible methamphetamine manufacturing taking place. The residence is believed to be a total loss. The Dubuque Fire Department, Dubuque Police / Dubuque Drug Task Force, and the Department of Human Services continue to investigate.
