Swim lessons (for ages 6+) were offered on Sunday afternoons at the Hempstead High School swimming pool located at 3715 Pennsylvania Avenue. Fee was $17 (City resident) or $20 (non-resident). Levels included Beginner I, Beginner II, Advanced Beginner I, Advanced Beginner II, Intermediate and Swimmer. Times offered for swimming lessons were 1:30, 2:10, 2:50 and 3:30 pm.
Each swim lesson is/was 35 minutes in length. Swimming lessons began on Sunday, September 15th and concluded on Sunday, November 3rd, with the exception of the 1:30 pm time which will end on Sunday, November 10th.
Aquatots (swim lessons for ages 1-3, with parent) were offered on Sunday afternoons from 4:15 - 4:45 p.m. and concluded on Sunday, November 3rd, at the Hempstead High School swimming pool located at 3715 Pennsylvania Avenue. Fee was $22 (City resident) or $25 (non-resident).
ADAPTED AQUATICS (Special Water Class) for mentally and physically disabled individuals was also offered at the Hempstead High School swimming pool. One-on-one instruction arranged through the Leisure Services Department with pool personnel or integration into scheduled lessons with an instructor aide for individualized attention as needed.
