[ARCHIVED] Shooting Suspect Arrested

On November 22nd at 11:16 p.m., Dubuque Police arrested Tyrone Clifton, 11/05/86, of 1823 ½ White Street, Dubuque, in the area of 7th Street & Central Avenue.

On November 22nd at 11:16 p.m., Dubuque Police arrested Tyrone Clifton, 11/05/86, of 1823 ½ White Street, Dubuque, in the area of 7th Street & Central Avenue. Clifton was identified as the suspect in the Player’s Club (1902 Central Ave.) shooting earlier (12:56 a.m.) the same day that left Joseph R. Lewis Jr. (10/26/81) of 2130 Jackson Street, with a non-lethal gunshot wound that required treatment at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.

Clifton was taken into custody without incident. He is charged with Going Armed with Intent, Willful Injury, Possession of a Firearm as a Felon, Possession of a Controlled Substance, and Theft 4th Degree (by possession). He remains in the Dubuque County Jail on a $500,000 cash bond.

Willful Injury Causing Serious Injury is a Class C Felony punishable by a fine between $1,000 and $10,000, and incarceration up to 10 years. Going Armed with Intent and Possession of a Firearm as a Felon are both Class D Felonies, each punishable by a fine between $750 and $7,500, and incarceration up to 5 years. Possession of a Controlled Substance and Theft 4th Degree are both Serious Misdemeanors, each punishable by a fine between $315 and $1,875 and incarceration up to 1 year.

As with any criminal case, the charges filed are allegations and any suspects are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.
