[ARCHIVED] LEISURE SERVICES DEPARTMENT IS OFFERING AN AMERICAN RED CROSS LIFEGUARDING CLASS

Are you looking for a great summer job? Become a Lifeguard! Registration for the January Certification Course is now open! Please see below for additional information.

The Leisure Services Department is offering an American Red Cross Lifeguarding Class at Loras College, San Jose Pool, located on Cox Street in Dubuque.

Through videos, group discussion and hands-on practice, you'll learn teamwork, rescue and surveillance skills, First Aid and CPR/AED and other skills you need to work as a professional lifeguard. Successful completion results in a 2-year certification in Lifeguarding that includes first aid, professional-level CPR and AED in one certificate.

Prerequisites: Must be at least 15 years old and pass certain swimming requirements. Students must be present for each day of training, no exceptions. Dates are as follows:

Friday, January 31st from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Saturday, February 1st from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Sunday, February 2nd from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.


Classes are limited to a certain number of participants and will be registered on a first-come, first-served basis. You may register online at www.cityofdubuque.org/recreation (a small convenience fee will be charged), mail in your registration with payment, e-mail your registration to parkrec@cityofdubuque.org or fax your registration to 563-589-4391 with your MasterCard or Visa credit card payment.
