[ARCHIVED] CITY OF DUBUQUE LEISURE SERVICES DEPARTMENT IS SPONSORING A 9/11 DAY OF SERVICE

The City of Dubuque, 9/11, AmeriCorps Vista, Volunteer Generation Iowa and the United Way of Dubuque Area Tri-States are sponsoring a 9/11 Day of Service. We are all on a mission to thank each of Dubuque’s 200+ civil servants and we need your help!

We are asking you to dedicate ONE GOOD DEAD on 9/11 to honor a local first responder and tell them about your good deed dedication in a letter of appreciation. It’s Easy, just follow these steps:

Choose any random act of kindness (good deed).

Write a generic “Thank You” letter for a local law enforcement officer, fire fighter or emergency medic.

Tell them exactly what your good deed for our community will be on 9/11/2014.

Sign your letter by using your first name only.

Place your letter in an unsealed envelope and also note in the lower left-hand corner of the envelope what branch of service the letter is intended. (law enforcement officer, fire fighter or medic)

Give your letter to Cassie at the United Way of Dubuque Area Tri-States, located at 215 West 6th Street, no later than Monday, September 8th. Letters will be delivered on Thursday, September 11th OR register your good deed online at www.911day.org.

For more information, please contact the United Way of Dubuque Area Tri-States at 563-588-1415 or email Cassie at csikkema@dbqunitedway.org. TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE THIS 9/11 A DAY OF APPRECIATION AND SERVICE.
