DUBUQUE, IOWA – A plugged sanitary sewer pipe caused a sanitary sewer manhole to overflow near the intersection of Collins Street and St. Joseph Street, causing untreated wastewater to flow into the storm sewer system.
DUBUQUE, IOWA – A plugged sanitary sewer pipe caused a sanitary sewer manhole to overflow near the intersection of Collins Street and St. Joseph Street, causing untreated wastewater to flow into the storm sewer system.
The City of Dubuque Public Works Department was notified by a local plumber of a sewer back up and an overflowing manhole at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 27,. Crews were dispatched to the area, the pipe blockage was removed, and flow directed back into the pipe by 3:30 p.m.
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources cautions people to keep their children and pets away from the noted area, which is posted, for forty-eight (48) hours.
